--- 2010 EVENT RESULTS ---

Thanks for a GREAT Event!

OK. We know you want to see pictures and the results, so we won't waste your time. But before we give you the details, thank you again to our Sponsors (Agilent Corporation, INCOSE Colorado Chapter) and our Hosts (University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, UCCS Engineering / IEEE, and D20 Rocky Mountain Robotics), D11 Robotics, our fabulous volunteers, and of course, ALL OF YOU!!!!

We have tons of photos for your viewing pleasure, courtesy of our event photographers, Chris Sherwood, Steve Moraco and Marie Bush as well as contributions from many of you. We've tried to break them up a little, but honestly, that's a lot of pictures.  Follow these links to find and download your favorites.  Please remember, these photos are the property of our photographers. You are welcome to download them and use them -- as long as you don't use them for profit.  (Be patient when you select these links. There are a ton of photos. It could take a few minutes to load them.)

We'll be adding more photos over the next few days, but here's a start:

Based on our total number of teams competing, the 2010 Southern Colorado FIRST LEGO League Competition is able to promote 10 teams to the Colorado FIRST LEGO League Championship in Denver on December 11, 2010.  These teams will compete against qualifying teams from our Eagle County, Monarch, Poudre, and The School of Mines qualifiers. The following teams have been selected for this competition based on their Presentation, Robot Performance, Technical Interview, Teamwork and Overall Consistency scores:

Advancing to State Competition

bullet4907    Biobots
bullet64        Binary Millionaires
bullet4934    Nerd Herd
bullet6096    Sabin LEGO Bots
bullet5780   The Sweet, The Sour and The Salty
bullet8192   Alpha-Beta
bullet7591   Da Vin-chicks
bullet1960   Wildbots
bullet7531   The Block Heads
bullet9549   Robo Jags

The Alliance Rounds were new this year. Based on feedback we've received so far, they were once again a big hit. Remember, Alliance Round results do not affect a teams rankings and they do not qualify a team for the Colorado Championship event. However, they did add an exciting new element to our competition as teams quickly built new strategies and friendships.  The Alliance Round Winners were:

Alliance Winners

bullet1st Place:    Alliance 1 (Sabin LEGO Bots, Shocking Eagles, Sweet Sour Salty)
bullet2nd Place:   Alliance 9 (B.E.A.T., The Block Heads, Da Vin-chicks)
bullet3rd Place:    Alliance 6 (RoboJags, STEM Cells, Wildbots)

The winner of the State Championship may have an opportunity to advance to the World Championship in St. Louis.  But that's not the only to get there. FLL provides an alternate way to qualify through the FLL Core Values Essay. The following teams will be offered the opportunity to write an essay about the FLL Core Values and how this year's competition has helped them recognize and reinforce them. Winning this contest at the State level does not guarantee World's attendance, but it does help.  Based on their demonstration of FLL values, the following teams will be offered this opportunity in late December:

bullet7591   Da Vin-chicks

And finally, because people are always curious, here are the top 50% of the Competition Round Scores. Remember, the contest, per FIRST Wordwide rules (www.usfirst.org), is a Best Round of Three.  In the case of a tie, the 2nd highest score was used to select the winning team.  So a team with a 380 best round and zeros for their other rounds could still win the Robot Performance award.  Also remember that the Directors Awards are based on the the combination of your Robot Performance, Teamwork, Project and Robot Design scores.  A team with a low performance score, but high marks in the other areas could easily win the Directors Award.
