--- 2009 EVENT RESULTS ---
|
Thanks for a GREAT Event!
OK. We know you want to see pictures and the results, so we won't
waste your time. But before we give you the details, thank you again to
our Sponsor (INCOSE Colorado Chapter) and our Hosts (University of Colorado at Colorado Springs,
UCCS Engineering / IEEE, and D20 Rocky Mountain Robotics),
our fabulous volunteers, and of course, ALL OF YOU!!!!
We have tons of photos for your viewing pleasure, courtesy of our
event photographers, Steve Moraco and Marie Bush as well as
contributions from many of you. We've tried to break them up a little, but honestly, that's
a lot of pictures. Follow these links to find and download your
favorites. Please remember, these photos are the property of our
photographers. You are welcome to download them and use them -- as long
as you don't use them for profit. (Be patient when you select these
links. There are a ton of photos. It could take a few minutes to load
them.)
If you have additional photos you'd like to contribute, please email
them to mbush@uccs.edu.
Now for the awards. In our minds, anyone who competes is a winner. Unfortunately, we
don't have enough trophies for everyone. So, here are the award winners:
In our minds, anyone who competed in this year's even is a winner.
That's a lot of work and you, no doubt, learned a lot.
Here are our winners. As a reminder, scoring is made up of four components:
* 25% Robot Performance
* 25% Robot Design
* 25% Research Project
* 25% Teamwork

Based on our total number of teams competing, the 2009 Southern
Colorado FIRST LEGO League Competition is able to promote 10 teams to
the Colorado FIRST LEGO League Championship in Denver on December 12,
2009. These teams will compete against qualifying teams from our
Berthod, Eagle County, Monarch, Poudre, School of Mines Qualifiers.
The following teams have been selected for this competition
based on their Presentation, Robot Performance, Technical Interview,
Teamwork and Overall Consistency scores:
 | 4437 Byte Riders |
 | 3753 Jagwires |
 | 3030 Checkmates |
 | 822 Loose
Screws |
 | 4330 Oddomobiles |
 | 4442 Gear Grinders |
 | 8334 Geek Squad |
 | 4443 Gear Grinders
2.0 |
 | 3294 Fuel Cell |
 | 6262 The Road Rippers |
The Alliance Rounds were new this year. Based on feedback we've
received so far, they were a big hit. Remember, Alliance Round results
do not affect a teams rankings and they do not qualify a team for the
Colorado Championship event. However, they did add an exciting new
element to our competition as teams quickly built new strategies and
friendships. The Alliance Round Winners were:
 | 1st Place: Alliance 4
(Cool Peeps, Lazer Lights, Byte Riders) |
 | 2nd Place: Alliance 8
(Geek Squad, Checkmate, Hawk Squad) |
 | 3rd Place: Alliance 1
(Odyssey Comets, Hawk Squad B, Gear Grinders 2.0) |
And finally, because people are always curious, here are the top 50%
of the Competition
Round Scores. Remember, the contest this year, per FIRST Wordwide rules
(www.usfirst.org), is a Best Round of Three. So a team
with a 380 best round and zeros for their other rounds could still win
the Robot Performance award. Also remember that the Directors Awards
are based on the the combination of your Robot
Performance, Teamwork, Project and Robot Design scores. A team with a
low performance score, but high marks in the other areas could easily
win the Directors Award.
